Roma 'cannot accept' England reasons for Abraham and Smalling World Cup snub

Roma chief Tiago Pinto says the club "can't acknowledge" Gareth Southgate's reasons to avoid Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling with regards to Britain's World Cup squad.

Abraham was mooted as a possible understudy for Harry Kane, having scored 27 goals for Roma last season, yet after just managing four in 20 appearances in 2022-23 so far, Southgate instead went to in-frame Newcastle Joined frontman Callum Wilson.

The presence of Britain normal Harry Maguire too in defense over Smalling, despite restricted minutes for Manchester Joined together, has left Pinto fuming.

"I can't acknowledge, both Roma and the representatives of different clubs, that individuals attempt to justify international call-ups with what's going on at club level," Pinto told DAZN.
